Former Secretary to the Delta State Government, Comrade (Chief) Ovuozourie Samuel Macaulay, the Okiroro of Isoko Nation, has urged members of the Association of Delta State Traditional Council of Chiefs to return to their communities and intensify grassroots mobilisation in support of the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Macaulay made the call while receiving a delegation of the association, drawn from the three senatorial districts and the 25 local government areas of Delta State, during a courtesy visit to his country home in Owhelogbo, Isoko North Local Government Area over the weekend.
The delegation was led by the Chairman of the association, Chief Olomu Akpojevwe.
Addressing the chiefs, Macaulay emphasised the need for sustained grassroots engagement through door-to-door campaigns, saying overwhelming electoral support for both President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori would strengthen Delta State’s influence at the national level and attract more federal government presence and development initiatives.
He described the state’s governorship zoning arrangement among the three senatorial districts as a vital pillar for peace, equity and harmonious coexistence, warning against any attempt to disrupt the existing political balance.
According to him, Governor Oborevwori’s alignment with the Federal Government under President Tinubu had positioned Delta State for greater opportunities and accelerated development.
“Deltans stand to benefit immensely if we deliver overwhelming votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori. Those votes will strengthen our bargaining power and enable the Governor to attract more federal government presence and interventions to the state,” Macaulay said.
Speaking on the developmental needs of Isoko Nation, the former SSG identified the restoration of electricity as a top priority, expressing confidence that Governor Oborevwori would fulfil his commitment to restore power supply to the area.
“In Isoko Nation, our most pressing need is electricity, and the Governor has assured us that power will soon be restored. I believe he will keep that promise. Beyond electricity, I am optimistic that more developmental projects will come to Isoko Nation. What the Governor needs from us is our continued support and prayers,” he stated.
Macaulay also assured the traditional chiefs of his readiness to collaborate with them in mobilising grassroots support whenever necessary, stressing that unity and collective action remained essential for sustaining peace, stability and development across Delta State.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Association of Delta State Traditional Council of Chiefs, Chief Olomu Akpojevwe, said the visit was to identify with Macaulay in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the development of Delta State.
He commended the former SSG for attracting numerous infrastructural projects to communities across the state and for his unwavering commitment to the welfare and progress of the people.
Chief Akpojevwe added that members of the association had resolved to support Macaulay in his political aspirations and prayed for God’s guidance, protection and success in all his future endeavours.
